F.A.Q.

Some people are deterred by the cost of treatments. My observation is that although it can be an issue with very real constraint, often it has more to do with what we value and how we direct our resources. A dedicated, skillful, 1.5hr treatment covers a lot of ground and layers. By putting in a solid foundation can allow subsequent treatments to integrate with the body much easier, and the body can make the necessary changes more readily and with ease. I would encourage you to hear me out, and hopefully, reach a decision that is true and good for you.

How Soon Will I See A Difference?

The benefit of skillful acupuncture is immediate. Patients often experience significant relief just after the first session. Some positive and immediate changes include remarkable reduction in pain and stress, restful sleep, improved mental clarity, less mood swing, more ease, and feeling more centered and at ease.

While some people wish for a magic cure without having to change anything, or recovery without effort, Chinese medicine is, I observed, a participatory medicine. Maintaining an optimistic outlook, whether it is toward your own health or trusting the treatment that you receive, trying the suggested “homework” with an open heart – they all can affect your prognosis favorably.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

In my practice, acute, “nuts and bolts” issues, such as sciatica, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder, tweaked neck/back/foot etc., even Bell’s palsy and post-chemo neuropathy, usually take between 2 to 3 treatments to resolve. Seasonal infectious diseases when treated at an early stage can be completely resolved in 1 to 2 treatments with the appropriate herbal remedies taken between sessions.

Chronic issues are similar to a “hung” program on a computer – if it’s still functional, it consumes more than its share of physical resources in order to complete the regular tasks; because it is using more resources, other programs [functions] get less and are slowed down subsequently. Over time, we end up having a “slow and twitchy” computer [body]. Chronic issues may take longer to untangle since we have a more complex story, and a habituated protective mechanism.

Because every patient is different, treatment duration is affected by the individual’s level of health and outlook in life, how rooted is the condition, and how well one responds to acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

How Often Do I Need Treatments?

Typically, depending on the severity of the issue/s, patients receive one and occasionally two treatments a week when we begin. The frequency reduces quickly and accordingly as wellness and balance are restored.

Remember, happy and healthy patients who tell their friends and family about their wonderful experience at Pathfinder are our most powerful advocates. It is not just our first priority, but also in our best interest to get you on your path of recovery as quickly and effectively as possible!
